DAN TURNER & Still Country

Dan would like to share with you just a little of his history and experience in the music industry.  Dan was born in the Appalachian mountains of eastern Kentucky, the son of a coal miner and preacher.  From a very early age, he has been involved in country music, and gospel music.

He has been singing almost since he could walk.  Throughout his early years, Dan performed everywhere he could find an audience. When He joined the U.S. Air Force, he used his talents to receive recognition in music, and played with a bluegrass band in Lubbock, Texas. After leaving the Air Force, Dan moved to Bakersfield, California where his music really began to take off. There he joined with 4 other individuals to form a capella gospel group, One Voice, that lasted for 10 years.  During this time, they  recorded 5 albums, and traveled extensively throughout the southwestern United States and Mexico, and even venturing into the mid-west and southern states.

In 1996, after a short reprieve, Dan decided to re-enter the country music industry.  His band, "Dan Turner & Still Country" were privileged to regularly share the stage with country legend, Buck Owens, at the Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, California, and with major label artists like Tracy Lawrence, Clark Family Experience, Asleep At The Wheel, Rick Trevino, David Frizzel, and others.  He was a part of a country music special recorded for Warner Cable as well, and has received countless awards on a national level, from the North American Country Music Association, for categories such as Male Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Duet of the Year(with Taffy Carlisle), and has also received several national awards for Song of the Year.  In 1998, with the financial backing of Spring Music record label, Dan recorded his first country music CD, and held a CD release party in 2000, at the Crystal Palace, performing with the musicians who worked on the project with him. James Burton, long time lead guitar player for Elvis Presley, also contributed to this CD. Dan and his band were the most sought after band around California, and performed from time to time in Las Vegas, Nevada. They even traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, and returned home having been awarded the "International Band of The Year" award. Dan has since performed in Nashville, sharing the stage with Dierks Bentley, and rock and roll legend Tommy TuTone.

In 2002, Dan,  moved to Oregon.  Over the next few years, he performed from time to time at various functions, including country music shows, and a benefit BBQ at the ranch of senator Gary George. Also, he  worked regularly with the worship team at his home church, Dayton Christian Church.  Dan currently lives in Dayton, OR.

In June, 2010, Dan released his new Country Gospel CD, (actually a mixture of styles), entitled,"Then Came God”, and performs at churches throughout the northwest with his gospel band, Last Call.

Also, Dan continues to write, record, and perform country music with his country band, "Dan Turner & Still Country", which has historically included musicians who have served time on the road with artists like Merle Haggard, Barbara Mandrell, and others. Current members were specifically chosen for their professional experience, and are the finest musicians the northwest has to offer.  When you attend a show, you will not only hear great music, but you will be completely entertained...after all, that's why Dan was named North American Country Music Associations' "Entertainer Of The Year".  Dan's love for  both, country music and gospel music keeps him busy.

On November 9th, 2013, he released his newest country CD entitled, "For God & Country". On this CD, he recorded the first song he ever wrote, and has been enjoyed by many over the years. It is a song written for his mother at the passing of her father, entitled "I Can't Go Home Anymore". The CD also includes a new CD version of his popular single release, "Takin' Back The U.S.A.".

In 2016, he moved to Montana, where he spent a year playing music in the Rocky Mountains, and put on a memorable show at Music Ranch Montana, in Paradise Valley near Livingston, Montana in July 2017, just before he moved back to Oregon. Dan is currently recording new songs he has written for his newest CD, which he hopes will be completed by spring of 2019.
